My name is Dezriana, I prefer Dez. I am 17 years old and I love East Asian studies or Japanese language. I want to be an international teacher, teaching Japanese and East Asian history around the world. I would be the first in my immediate family to earn a bachelor's degree. I am a helper, I love to help, though I know my community service hours don't give me justice. My favorite animal is a turtle. And I love TV as much as the next person, but books are where my ultimate interests is. I read at least 15-20 books a year. My favorite fiction of all time is "A Little Life" by Hanya Yanagihara, and my favorite nonfiction is "Accountable" by Dashka Slater.
Since I was around 7 my family had a lot of interest in South Asian culture. I always went to Filipino debuts and Vietnamese parties thrown by my Grandma's friends. My uncle although loved manga art, Japanese culture and anime. I quickly became attached to it. My mother loved K-Pop, K-Dramas and Korean culture. I naturally leaned toward Asian Culture in general. In my Freshman year in High School I took a Japanese class where I learned the basics of the language and culture. Since I was 7, I always knew I wanted to study Asian/East Asian culture in depth.
